Athirapilly Waterfalls - The Queen of Falls

Being a newly married couple can be very tough. For instance, look at us, we were the best example of the aforementioned fact. I and my husband had been married for a month and hadn't got a single opportunity to spend some quality time with each other. We are from the North, and our marriage includes a lot of rituals. Though the procedures are interesting, it can get tedious after a while. We got caught in the infinite number of post-marriage functions and had to keep postponing our honeymoon trip several times. We had been planning for this honeymoon trip for a while, in fact, even before marriage. Though we are very different from each other, I and my husband have one thing in common, our fascination for 'God's own Country', Kerala. Well, finally our patience did bear fruits. We got the opportunity to fly down to Kerala a month later. One of our friends had suggested Lelagoon Holidays since they provide quality services at a very reasonable price. We went through their website where they had mentioned in detail all about the Kerala tour packages from Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and other cities along with their prices. We booked a package which involved more of sightseeing expeditions than the tourist activities. At this juncture, I can't help but applaud the services of Le Lagoon Holidays because they gifted us with a honeymoon holiday that will stay in the book of our memories for an entire lifetime.

After a night of hurried packing, I and my husband ran to catch the flight which was to leave for Kerala at sharp 3:00 in the morning. Luckily, we reached just in time. We were all smiles as we got into the flight because we were just hours apart from reaching our dream destination, the land of greenery, Kerala. A while after the flight took off, I drowned into an hour of beautiful dreams. The announcement from the cabin woke me up and as I looked out of the window I saw a sight that was beyond beautiful, a sight that described beauty in the best possible way. A fascinating azure sky overlooking a ravishing swath of land that was embellished by greenery. I couldn't take my eyes off such a vista and at that very moment, I knew Kerala was going to gift us with a honeymoon that we will cherish forever. Indeed, the land of Kerala was much more than what the pictures showed. The land is a true enchantress for I had already been cast by its spell even before I landed on its ground.

After the procedures at the Cochin International Airport, I and my husband got out and luckily we didn't take much time to spot our representatives. After exchanging a few greetings, we were guided to our vehicle by Mr. Ram (who was our tour guide and a representative from Lelagoon Holidays). He said he would drop us at our resort in Athirapilly first, where we can rest for a while and refresh ourselves. The drive along long winding routes was fantastic! As you drive up the slope you are able to witness beauty in its finest form. The road is flanked by luscious green forests on both sides. I never knew green had so many different shades until I visited this tiny state! The drive by itself was truly an experience! Let me suggest you something. While travelling through such beautiful regions in Kerala, plug in your earphone and play the most melodious track in your music list. It is such a blissful experience, you must try it out. I did and I just got immersed in the harmony of Nature and music. Nothing can beat this awesome combination. You just forget all your worries and indulge in this beautiful moment that Nature offers you. Well, I could go on and on. Yes, and we finally reached our resort in Athirapilly. The resort was built in a traditional Malabari Style which aroused my curiosity. I had seen them on the internet several times. I always wanted to know more about the architectural styles of Kerala and I thought of enquiring more about it to the staffs of the resort but postponed it due to lack of time. We checked in to our comfortable suite, rested for a while and went into the traditional restaurant to have a scrumptious Keralite breakfast. The Chef served us piping hot coffee and a plate of freshly made dosas along with an assortment of chutneys. The coffee was perfect, and one sip of it from the steel tumbler simply rejuvenates your whole self. And I have no words to describe the dosas. The rice crepe' was fluffy on the inside and crispy towards the edges! Tear off a piece consisting of both the crispy edge and the softer inner side, dip it in your sambar and pop it in your mouth and indulge in a new tasting experience of pure joy. I have never tasted anything so unique and tasty in my life. I could go on and on about the yummy dosas. But I think it's time to put an end to my 'dosa' rambling.

After having our breakfast we were driven to Athirapilly Waterfalls. The driver stopped the car in front of the main gate, which was surrounded by little stalls. Some of the vendors where selling tender coconut to tired travellers, there were souvenir shops and even hotels. But something else caught my attention; little langurs! There were monkeys all around, on the gate, near the gate, behind the gate, on the roofs of the stalls, next to the vendors and I even saw some of them inside a souvenir shop! Here's something to be kept in mind while travelling to Athirapilly. Whatever you do, do not carry food with you. You might not be able to see it again, let alone taste it. As I was entering the gate, I saw a group of mischevious monkeys snatching away packets of food from travellers and that is not a very good experience. The moment you try to resist, you might end up being hurt.
Athirapilly had a lot in store for me. I thought the waterfall was situated somewhat near the entrance, maybe a few minutes walk, but I was wrong. Our guide said we had to trek for around 30 minutes to reach the waterfalls. That was quite unexpected!  See, I am not a big fan of trekking and this news came like a thunderbolt from the clear sky, though my husband seemed to be pleased. He loves some adventure during his journey. We had to trek a good 2 miles through rocky terrain to reach the top. I was quite exasperated then. Panting for breath, I looked up to find one of the most wondrous sights that I have ever seen in my life. The Athirapilly Waterfalls lay there in front of in all its majesty and beauty! The glorious waterfalls jutting out from the huge rocky ledge was a sight beyond comprehension and all the fatigue just got washed away in the glory of the waterfalls. I stood there for hours on end taking in the gorgeous sight. The azure sky, the majestic gush of water spraying droplets on the lush green surroundings...  I run out of words when it comes to expressing the stunning beauty of Athirapilly Waterfalls. The Almighty has created such divine places for us to explore. Athirapilly is a testimony to that fact. I would suggest all of you especially couples to include Athirapilly in your Kerala honeymoon package or else you would be missing out on a great deal. True beauty is waiting to be explored in the lap of Nature; in God's own Country, Kerala.

An Ode To the ‘God’s Own Country’

After our marriage, I and my husband decided to visit Kerala for our honeymoon. We wanted to spend our time in the lap of Nature embraced by the serenity and for us, no other place complies with this other than Kerala. We (especially I ) had always wanted to visit Kerala. I remember browsing through zillions of beautiful pictures on the internet. Nature has blessed this land in abundance. The greenery, the waterfalls, the beaches, the hill ranges, the backwaters, everything about Kerala captivates me. My husband has two main reasons for loving Kerala. The first reason is definitely the natural beauty of the small state and the second one is quite funny. We are Hyderabadis and my husband finds it very convenient that Kerala is somewhat close to Hyderabad( which means lesser travelling hours and fatigue). Moreover, he also found a tour package to Kerala which was made for travelers from Hyderabad. This tour package was offered at really low prices by the travel planners named Lelagoon Holidays. This particular fact made my husband, even more, happier that he instantly fell in love with the idea of travelling to 'God's own Country'. He asked me to pack the bags as he had booked the package and was even going to book the flight which was set to leave for Kerala in two days. I did back my bags and we did leave for Kerala and we had the time of our lives in the small southern state. Wherever you go for a trip, there is just one prayer in your mind that the trip should go as planned. Well, guess what, my trip was way beyond my expectations. Kerala was way more beautiful than the pictures that I saw. Be it the places, the food or people, Kerala is beautifully unique and considerate. The love that the Keralites have for one another is so uplifting. There is no religious or any sort of barriers separating these people from calling one another brother. You can see Muslim children walking hand in hand with Hindu and Christian children. If you want to witness such beautiful sights, you need to come to Kerala. Where else can you see such a wonderful atmosphere?! Well, it isn’t called ‘God’s own Country’ for nothing. Kerala has a huge influence in my life and it has helped me become a better person too. Kerala has become so close to my heart now, that I have started considering it as my second home. I could go on and on about 'God's own Country'. In this blog, I am going to ramble about my most favorite places in Kerala. Those places which took us to another world of tranquility and peace, making our simple honeymoon a beautiful time to cherish for an entire lifetime. Of all the places that we visited in Kerala, we found the Athirapilly Waterfalls and Ezhattumugham to be completely mesmerizing. We all know that travelling is just not about gazing at places. It is also about learning new things, discovering yourself and finding peace and detaching yourself from the worldly concerns. For all this to take place, you need to feel emotionally connected to the destination that you are in. Athirapilly had the same effect on us which is unforgettable. We literally found out the meaning of true bliss on that day.
Athirapilly Waterfalls, the cascading falls of Elixir
Athirapilly is located in Thrissur district of Kerala. These humongous cascading falls are considered to be one of the biggest waterfalls in India. It is advisable to hire a cab to Athirapilly, as there are fewer buses( both private and public) to the place. But if you are planning to take the bus whatsoever, you must first get down at Chalakudy from where you can board a bus straight to Athirapilly. As for us, our travel planners in Kerala had already hired a cab to Athirapilly as part of our honeymoon package. I still remember it like yesterday. The drive to Athirapilly was wonderful. The winding route cuts through dense forests. I couldn’t take my eyes off the window for it was adorned by the scenic beauty outside. It felt as though the thick canopy of trees were painting the azure sky with splashes of green. I was already beginning to love the place. And after half an hour’s drive, we reached Athirapilly. But that was not all, we had to travel almost an entire km to reach the humongous waterfalls. To be frank, I actually enjoyed every step that I took. It was like trekking through the beautiful land that Nature has provided. As it is said, the fruits of patience are sweeter and true to every word, it was.  I was bowled over by the magnificence that was gushing out in front of me. The milky falls cascaded with such force that they seemed to be touching the sky. I stood transfixed. I couldn’t feel the world that was bustling around me. All I could hear was the majestic roar of the Athirapilly falls and the water bubbling as it nears the cool pool of water. That is when I felt something nibbling my dress and I looked down to find a baby monkey. That brought me out of my trance in a jiffy, because I believe no one in this world is as scared as me when it came to monkeys. I ran away to find a ‘monkey-free’ spot just to find out that there wasn’t such a single spot free of monkeys! But to my surprise, I found out that they are harmless unless you have a bag of food. Luckily, neither I nor my husband had one and so I went on to enjoy my trip without a single worry in mind! One of the best parts of my Athirapilly trip was sitting by the pool of water created by the falls to gaze at the children playing and splashing water all around and their amusement as the water flowed bubbling its way through their little feet. As I watched them I wondered whether Life would ever give me a chance to be as happy as those innocent lives.

Solo Escape into Mother Nature at Wayanad

The people who traverse through various places are those who undoubtedly have more dreams to accomplish. While most of the people find it too hard to plan a trip, I have always found it easy to follow what my heart says and hence it has been easy for me to travel. For a long time, I had been mind-boggling about the place I could visit and came down with the perfect destination which would help me capture all that I wanted to. Kerala, the Gods own country was the place and everything I wanted to pursue could be done in this gem of a place. So without having second thoughts on it, as usual, I planned a quick trip on which I got some guidance and help from Lelagoon Holidays. The solo traverse hence began where I took a bus ride from Bangalore for you should always know the ways through which you get to reach the destination. Little did I know that it is not really tough task to reach the place and that I should have already made a trip to the destination much earlier. The Kerala tour package was hence much powered with every enthusiasm. On reaching Wayanad, I got out of the bus and the travel began where I met the official driver who would be taking me through the destination. The first task was to head on to places that were perfect for sightseeing.

I have never been a traveller who has always wanted to see everything in a destination. I often pick out the places that I have always wanted to see and then tries to know everything regarding the places through the internet and from the friends who have been to the place. The first place for my visit was Pookode Lake. The freshwater lake had something very attractive about the pictures I had seen of it and hence a travel to the place was bound upon reaching. I got to the Lake where the driver dropped me. I carried my camera along with me where the lake had been in front of me and tourists had been cruising through the lake in pedal boats. After fetching 10 rupees entry ticket, I entered inside and decided to take a boat journey. The place was very serene where greenery spread out on the banks of the river.  I got in for the bat ride after paying 30 bucks and began pedaling to a spot from where I could get a beautiful shot of the place captured into my camera. And after being satisfied with the pictures, I got back on time and walked to the aquarium that was located nearby. A spice and condiments shop was also located close by. After feeding the tiny fishes in the aquarium, I decided to get back to the car where we were bound to visit the next place.

The journey was to Banasura Dam. I have not been to a lot of days before and the fact that this dam is the largest earthen dam here was one reason that I decided to be at the place. On reaching the place I took a panoramic shot of the dam. Here again, boating was going on but I did not really want to take another cruise again. After wandering around the place for some time, I decided to get back to the driver. It was time for lunch and the driver asked me if a typical Kerala Sadhya was preferred. I was ready for any trail and wouldn't mind eating anything from the places where I tour too. After having a delicious platter of amazing vegetable dishes where I had not had this good vegetarian food from Bangalore, The travel proceeded and this time to the Edakkal Caves. Caves were again one thing that I had never visited at many places. On reaching I realized that the walk was more a mini red where walking through all the steps I reached about the rocks that had inscriptions from the past. It wasn't really something that any of the people could understand.  Also on walking further inside, I got to sight a small piece of rock between two huge rocks. The view from the top was also priceless where the widespread greenery was worth staring at. It was time that we climb back and hence the walk back dropped me at the car. I was almost tired after the sightseeing that I asked the driver to drop me at the residence booked for the stay. We reached the resorts and I checked in. Even the resorts and hotels located at Wayanad provided perfect views of nature. After walking through the garden there, I took a dive in the swimming pool and the next day had to be a fresh start.

The second day is when I decided to set off on a trek which was the ultimate reason for the visit to Wayanad. The Chembra peak and the Meeshapulimala were two places that were the best for trekking when I had googled. I decided to make my ultimate trekking through the peak and the driver dropped me early in the morning. I got in touch with a guide who would be leading me and other guys on the trek. The other guys who had been with me had been pretty more enthusiastic and friendly at the same time. They had come from the neighboring district, Kozhikode and had come with quite some food to eat as the trek was an 8-hour expedition. The walk began where the guide had been the best pouring out a lot of information and letting us rest so that we do not get tired at the end of the day. The walk finally came out a point where we got to see the heart-shaped lake. It is told that this lake is man-made. But was quite a wonder while trekking and one of the best that I got to capture at Wayanad. The trek continued further where the next stop was the top. The view from this place was the ultimate where the rolling Western Ghats spread out in beauty. We spend over two hours there sitting where all of us talked and had the treats that had been bought.  And then walk began where we got back and realized that a whole day of full spirit had been over. By night I had return back to after the Kerala tourpackage from Bangalore and hence I decided to get back to home and rest. Wayanad had indeed been the best treat that I had got from traveling at Kerala

Fondling In Love above the Hill Station of Munnar

The state of Kerala attracts a number of foreigners to the south zone wherein everyone gets to experience the richness that nature beholds in the destination. It is some sort of enigma where people get to relax in tranquility at this destination. My first journey to Kerala had been with friends from Bangalore where we visited Wayanad which was the most closely located district for us. Almost three 4 years had passed by and I had got married now. Planning a budget-friendly honeymoon was not a hard task as I had always wanted to take another trip to Kerala. My wife had also been looking forward to it for she had been wondering what sort of magic spell attracted the people to this destination. Together we set off on our Kerala honeymoon package where we headed to find a flight from Bangalore and reached Cochin International Airport. From where we were driven to our residence of stay for the night. Expecting to rest up and power for the next morning, we got to the hotel. Initially, the reception manager told us that we had to get down for buffet lunch and hence we kept the baggage in the room and got down to the reception where we were escorted to a restaurant and a closed room where they had set up candles and flowers for us along a secret dinner. This was an absolute surprise where both of us had not planned this but it was the gesture of the tour operators to welcome the honeymooners. The smile on our face remained throughout for the start of the journey had turned out to be the best.

We proceeded with our journey the very next day and the driver drove us to Munnar which was the major destination for the honeymoon. The drive was a long on that took around 5 hours for us reach. But rolling up the hill station was an exciting event where we rolled down the windows and began to enjoy our first journey together. It was almost 12 pm when we reached and we were bound to get down at Top Station which was our first place of sightseeing. But then we got to see a waterfall and asked the driver for a stop where we got down, got a cup of tea and watched the Cheeyapara falls. Apparently, the destination was on our itinerary somewhere around the third day. The journey continued where we got down to the Top station and the long walk between richness began. We reached the ticket counter and fetched the tickets to get down to the viewpoint of the clock tower which was located close by did not seem worth watching the beauty of the destination. The climb down began where we initially felt like it was easy but the never-ending steps made us halt in between as we did not want to be extra tired.   On finally reaching the viewpoint we got to see Munnar with what adorns it the most where the greenery spread out in grace. We sat there having fallen hopelessly for the place and its beauty. The climb back was hard but the view had been captured well enough in the head.

Post lunch, we made our way to echo point. Other than the pictures we had been taking in the digital camera, we got some beautiful pictures captured from the places where photographers had been in plenty. The echo point somehow did not seem to have an echo at that moment but instead, we took a fantasy horse ride one by one for a short distance which was again captured by the photographer there. When we left the place, we had around 20 pictures out of which we planned to enlarge the good ones and frame them at home in Bangalore. The last place of visit for the day was at Photo Point from where again we got a lump sum of pictures clicked. It was located close to echo point as well. We walked along the grass path and sat there enjoying the light changing into darkness. That was it for the day where we were dropped at the resort for our night stay.

The next day the journey continued where we were taken to the tea museum. Munnar is rich in its abundance of tea estates and not being to one such place is a huge loss. We took some pictures from in between the tea estates that had been there and also got into the museum to purchase the fresh powdered tea from the shop that had been there for both our parents at Bangalore and for ourselves. The next stop turned out to be the best where we visited the rose garden. This time, more than just nature, colors adorned the destination more. We spend almost an hour inside where we chilled by the flowers sitting with the mild aroma around the place. And the final place for the visit was after lunch where the long drive took us to Nyayamkad Waterfalls. This was indeed the most serene place we had ever been to for who would never fall for this kind of beauty where the gushing whitewater flows in ease through the streams. This was also something that we never get to experience at Bangalore due to which we spend quite a lot of time in the destination. We had trekked for a short distance and then had got down to the falls where we played in the cold water streams and enjoyed every bit of the place. In fact, waterfalls always have a romantic layout to it. We got back to the driver by 6 and the night was spent at the hotel.

The final day of the tour is where we checked out of the room to visit two places which had been Mattueppety Dam and Kundala Dam. We had seen Mattupetty Dam while driving to certain places. We got down this time and walked through the side of the roads watching people boat in the dam. The pathway for the roads had been made beautifully making it look good in the pictures. By 10 we reached Kundala Lake which was again a place where we finally decided to be on a quick speedboat cruise which was being provided there. The humongous trees on the banks of the lake made us feel like we had been taking a cruise through a forest destination. In around 10 minutes we got back and it was 12 pm already. The drive began to Kochi as we had a midnight flight back to Bangalore and had to reach on time in case there was a sign of traffic. By 7 pm we reached the airport as in the midway we had stopped for lunch.

Our togetherness had hence been traveled in the best possible way at Munnar. It was the three days of life anyone would have wanted to live in a beautiful place like that of Kerala.  And when we had been moving forth to the airport, the wife had been extra happy on visiting the place. In fact, we had also been wondering why people always choose to spend their honeymoon in other countries while there is the gem of places located in India itself. That was it about our Kerala tour package from Bangalore where all we had now were good pictures and memories that could be cherished all life.

Travelling... the best way to be lost in another dimension

Mumbai is one of the fastest growing business states in India, where most of the cities are filled with buildings and other constructions. Being in a business city filled with pollution and loud noise for the last few years, I was more like a robot than a human. It was finally on the 30th of December that I toured to Kerala which was one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the south. Being one of the most beautiful destinations with nature which is visited by travelers from around the world, the state houses a number of tour operators like Le Lagoon Holidays offering different attractive packages. Kerala being promoting domestic tourism, it was not hard for me to choose the best tour package that was organized for travelers from Mumbai. According to me, it would be the best to avail facilitated budget packages while touring alone to make the trip more comfortable and stress-free. Filled with hill stations, waterfalls, wildlife destinations, valleys, historical landmarks and scenic backwaters Kerala is not just a paradise for travelers and adventure lovers but also a state most visited by couples and newlyweds. It is mostly the climatic condition and the beauty of the hill stations and the backwater destination makes the place more preferable destination for couples and honeymooners from states like Mumbai. My trip to this scenic tourist destination was to escape from the tension, stress and loud noise of Mumbai and so I included some of the best destinations far from city and modernization like hill stations and the backwater destinations. Listed below are the destinations I explored while touring to Kerala.

Munnar, the queen of hill stations

Located on the Western Ghats, Munnar is one of the most beautiful hill stations in Kerala which is mostly visited and explored by couples and honeymooners. The beautiful climate and greenery is the place was something that I could never enjoy back in Mumbai. It was mainly this beauty and peacefulness and freshness in nature that attracted me to this enticing hill station in Kerala.  One of the main attractions in Munnar is the innumerable tea plantations. Most of the hills and valleys in the place are filled with plantation which provides the hills with a majestic view. Most of the foreign travelers travel to this scenic destination to enjoy the beauty and aroma of the plantations and to carry some tea leaves back home. Apart from the tea plantations some of the other main attractions in the place include Eravikulam National Park which is a fascinating natural destination with the wild goat as the main attraction; Anamudi, an evergreen mountain housing the highest peak to the south and provides the best view of the city; Munnar Tea Museum, an industry which traces the history of tea production in India. The different varieties of tea produced in the place act as the main attraction in the industry.  Pothamedu View Point, a valley filled with tea plantations which offer the travelers with a panoramic view of the landscape below; Mattupetty Dam, a concrete gravity dam that conserves water for hydro-electricity and many such destinations. The place also offers a number of adventure activities to the travelers visiting trekking, mountain climbing, rock climbing and much more. Couples could enjoy a number of activities like hiking, treetop stays and even boating to make their honeymoon more special and memorable.

Alleppey, a gateway to the backwaters of Kerala

Blessed with unique water and soil structure Kerala is one of the only destinations to the south with complex inland waters. Mostly a well-known honeymoon destination, Alleppey is one of the most visited backwater destinations in Kerala. Filled with coconut plantations and paddy fields the beauty of this scenic destination is fascinating beyond words could explain. Apart from the waters and its beauty, it is mainly the backwater industries and houseboats which attract travelers from Mumbai and such states which lack natural beauty to this complex inland water destination. With the coming of responsible tourism, the travelers visiting the backwater industries are entertained and educated by teaching them the methods of making handicrafts. The moonlit waters, evergreen paddy fields, backwater villages and the beautiful sunset and sunrise add to the beauty of the place. There are a number of things that attract the travelers to the land which includes the houseboat tours, houseboat stays, snake boat race and backwater festivals like the harvesting festival. Travelers and honeymooners from different parts of the world visit Alleppey during the festive seasons to enjoy the seasonal splash in the land.

Wayanad, the vegetative garden with history

Filled with wildlife, forest, and history, Wayanad is one of the best destinations for couples, honeymooners, nature lovers, birdwatchers, and photographers. One of the main reasons for me to explore this beautiful destination was due to the historical evidence of human life which was present in the Edakkal caves. When Mumbai housed a number of historical destinations, the Edakkal cave in Wayanad was a link to the past from the present. The place housed a number of attractions for which the travelers toured to the place. some of the must-visit attractions in the place include the Edakkal cave which is said to be the connecting thread between the past and the present; Manipur National Park, which was established to protect tigers and is now home to a wide variety of wild animals; Wayanad Heritage Museum, which is an archaeological museum that exhibits tools, weapons and portraits from the 2nd century and many more such destinations. One of the main entertainments which attract couples to the place is the true top cottages which are said to be a literal paradise for couples.  Apart from the beautiful destination and history, the place offers a number of adventure activities for travelers visiting which includes, river rafting, boating, off-road trips and more.

Kerala is a land blessed with moderate climate and destinations with historical and natural importance, the place is visited by travelers from all groups. The hill stations, backwater destinations and beach destinations in Kerala are the most visited honeymoon destination to the south. Being a state known as the traveler’s hub and the couple’s paradise a number of attractive packages are offered to the land. The destinations listed above are the most prominent in almost every package to the south. As a part of promoting domestic tourism, the Kerala government is now organizing packages from business cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad and more. Mumbai even after being known as the city of beauty may have industrial and constructional wonders but lacks natural beauty. This is one main reason that travelers choose the destinations in Kerala to enjoy a relaxing holiday

Wayanad - The Couple’s Paradise where Beauty Cherish

Mumbai is one of the fastest developing and most populated cities in India. Married to such a city one of the most difficult part I find to adjust with was the loud noise and unavailability of places where you could enjoy a peaceful honeymoon. It was finally after one month of our marriage that my husband finally got some time to plan a honeymoon trip. All that I wanted was a trip to someplace very peaceful and full of nature as being in this city my eyes were literally in need of some visual treat. After searching for a while we decided to trip to Kerala, the couple’s paradise and a place which is considered as one of the most beautiful honeymoon destinations in the country. It was our first trip to Kerala and to make this honeymoon trip easier and comfortable we decided to avail the top Kerala tour package from Mumbai which was offered by le lagoon holidays. Our trip was scheduled to the 23rd of November. After waiting for another week finally on the 23rd of November we started our honeymoon trip to Kerala, the couple’s paradise to explore the exotic beauty of Wayanad. We reached the Mumbai airport by 7am and were welcomed by the travel operators in the city. They helped us greatly with the luggage and other formalities which made it easier to travel.
After a flight of nearly 2 hrs, we finally reached the Kochi international airport by 9 am. At the airport we meet the tour operators who led us to the taxi which was waiting for us and then to our honeymoon destination Wayanad. It was a 5 hr travel from the airport to Wayanad hill station; we stopped in between to have the lunch and to take pictures of the wild. We finally reached the destination by 2.30pm; we were taken directly to the resort which was booked for us. By 3 pm we reached the resort and checked-into our honeymoon suite which was well facilitated. After refreshing, we decided to have some snacks from the hotel and then continue with the tour. By 3.45 we decided to visit our first destination in Wayanad. As we reached to the tour operators they handed us with a chart of the tour in which our destination for the day was the Chembra Peak of Wayanad. After travelling for about 30 min from the resort we reached the beautiful peak by 4.30pm. It was one of the most beautiful hill stations in Kerala which offers the perfect view of the entire city and the wild below. One of the main attractions of the peak is the presence of a heart-shaped lake which is said to have water in it throughout the year. The cold breeze and the freezing climate added up to the beauty and the romantic ambiance of the hills. As it was our first destination of the trip we decided to enjoy the moment and explore the beauty of the hills. After being in the peak for a while we decided to get back to the resort as it was already getting dark. By 9 we reached back to the hotel, after refreshing we decided to have the dinner and sleep as we had a very tiring day.
The next day we woke up at 9 am, after freshening and having the complimentary breakfast we decided to check out as we had to get back to Mumbai the next day. By 10 we checked out and decided to visit a few more destinations in the place. The tour operators handed us with the tour chart for the day with destinations like Pookot Lake, Soochippara waterfalls and Edakkal caves. According to the plan, our 1st destination of the day was Pookot Lake. After travelling for about 20min we finally reached the place. The lake was one of the best and most fascinating natural lakes with fresh water. One of the main entertainments offered in the area was boating where you could see a number of pedal boats and much more variety of boats. The place was one of the best destinations for couple where they could enjoy the company of each other and explore the waters with a boat ride. We decided to enjoy the boat ride through the waters exploring the beauty of the place and enjoy each other’s company. After spending some sweet moment in the place we headed to our next destination, the Soochippara waterfalls. After travelling for another 20 min we reached the place. As car and other vehicles were not permitted to the falls, we decided to take a walk to the falls. After walking for about 10 min we finally reached Soochippara waterfalls which are located deep in the forest. Filled with vegetation and natural beauty the falls was one of the best parts of the trip.  This beauty of nature was the one thing that I was missing back in Mumbai, greenery and vegetation was abundantly available in Kerala where as Mumbai was a city which lacked all these beauty of nature and wild. Even though I was not able to take bath in the water as it was surrounded by rocks, my husband did enjoy a refreshing bath in the cold falls.
After enjoying the bath and the beauty of the place we moved on to the next destination Edakkal caves. After travelling for 30 min we reached near the caves, we were to walk to the cave located to the peak of a hill.  The edakkal cave is a place which could be better explained as the connecting link between the past and the present. Even though Mumbai was a place with destinations connecting the past and the present, the city life and development killed the true beauty of those destinations. The case was entirely different in Kerala with the edakkal cave showing the true beauty of the past and the present. With a number of ancient inscriptions on the wall, the place was the best destination which narrates the story of the past. By the time finished exploring the cave it was high time for us to start our ride back home. By 5pm we started our ride back to Kochi international airport and reached the place by 10.30pm. After the 2 hour long flight we reached back to Mumbai by around 1 am the next day.

My honeymoon trip to Kerala was one of the most memorable in my life, the state rich with hill stations, forest, wildlife, waterfalls and historical destinations is one of the best place couples, honeymooners and travelers who love nature. Being one of the top 10 paradises for honeymooners the hill stations of Kerala are now a prominent destination in most honeymoon packages. The hill stations of Kerala should be the must visit detonation for honeymoon couples visiting the state. Not just couples all travellers visiting Kerala would be fascinated and enchanted with the beauty of the hills and more importantly the vegetative nature and its beauty. For nature lovers, honeymoon, couples and bird watchers Kerala could be one of the best destination to visit.
